PCI HPR Registration 2026 for Pharmacists: New Mandatory Update, Last Date, Eligibility, Process, Documents & Complete Details Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) New Update 2026
The Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) has issued an important new update for pharmacists regarding the Health Professional Registry (HPR) integration with the PRTS/DIGI-PHARMed Portal.
PCI has integrated the pharmacist registration database with the Health Professional Registry (HPR) under the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) in collaboration with the National Health Authority (NHA).
The HPR integration has gone live from 12 August 2026. According to the PCI circular, existing pharmacists registered on the DIGI-PHARMed portal with a valid BH-P Number are required to complete and validate their HPR profile within the prescribed deadline.
🔴 What Is the New PCI HPR Registration?
HPR stands for Health Professional Registry.
It is a national digital registry designed to maintain standardized and digitally verifiable information about healthcare professionals.
Under the new PCI initiative, pharmacists are being integrated into the HPR system along with other healthcare professionals.
PCI is connecting the existing pharmacist database available through the PRTS/DIGI-PHARMed Portal with the HPR system of the National Health Authority.
This will create a more standardized digital professional record for registered pharmacists.
🎯 Why Is HPR Registration Required for Pharmacists?
The main purpose of this integration is to:
• Digitally verify pharmacist credentials
• Maintain accurate pharmacist registration records
• Reduce duplicate and incorrect registration data
• Standardize professional and educational information
• Connect pharmacist records with India's digital healthcare ecosystem
• Make professional verification easier
• Create a digitally verifiable identity for healthcare professionals
After the pharmacist submits the required information, the profile is forwarded to the concerned State Pharmacy Council for verification.
Once the State Pharmacy Council approves the profile, the HPR profile/card can be generated.
🚨 Is HPR Registration Mandatory? For Existing Registered Pharmacists
Yes.
Existing pharmacists who are already registered on the DIGI-PHARMed Portal with a valid BH-P Number are required to update their profile, complete the required information and complete the HPR registration/validation process within the prescribed timeline.
PCI has stated that existing users must complete and validate their HPR profile within 15 days from the date of issuance of the circular.
For New Pharmacists
HPR profile generation has been made mandatory for new users/profiles registered through the PRTS/DIGI-PHARMed Portal or NHA Portal, wherever applicable, from the Go-Live date of 12 August 2026.
📅 PCI HPR Registration Last Date 2026 Existing DIGI-PHARMed Registered Pharmacists
Circular Date: 13 August 2026
Time Allowed: 15 days
Last Date: 28 August 2026
Pharmacists should complete the process as early as possible rather than waiting for the final date.
New Users
For new users, HPR profile generation is mandatory from 12 August 2026, the official Go-Live date.
💰 Is PCI HPR Registration Free?
The official PCI user manual does not show a separate payment step or fee for the HPR registration process.
Therefore, pharmacists should be careful about anyone asking for an unofficial payment for HPR registration.
Important:
This HPR process should not be confused with State Pharmacy Council registration/renewal fees.
State Pharmacy Council registration, renewal or transfer may involve fees according to the respective State Pharmacy Council.
PCI itself clarifies that pharmacist registration, renewal and transfer are handled by the State Pharmacy Councils, not directly by PCI.
👨⚕️ Who Needs to Complete HPR Registration?
The new process is applicable to:
✅ Existing pharmacists registered on the DIGI-PHARMed/PRTS Portal with a valid BH-P Number
✅ New pharmacist users/profiles being registered through the PRTS/DIGI-PHARMed or applicable NHA system
The pharmacist's professional, educational and registration information must be correctly updated and verified.
🎓 Qualification / Eligibility
The HPR process is for pharmacists who have the required pharmacist registration/records under the applicable system.
PCI's FAQ states that pharmacist registration is handled by State Pharmacy Councils and that approved pharmacy qualifications include:
• D.Pharm
• B.Pharm
• Pharm.D
from institutions/qualifications approved under the applicable provisions of the Pharmacy Act.
Important: HPR registration does not replace your State Pharmacy Council registration.
🖥️ Where to Complete the Registration?
The PCI user manual directs pharmacists to the official DIGI-PHARMed Portal:
Official Portal:
https://digipharmed.pci.gov.in/
The official PCI manual states that pharmacists can process the registration through the NHA as well as DIGI-PHARMed system.
📝 How to Complete PCI HPR Registration? Step 1: Visit the Official DIGI-PHARMed Portal

The system checks the information against the State Pharmacy Council records.
Step 3: Aadhaar Verification
If required, proceed with Aadhaar verification.
The mobile number linked with Aadhaar should be active because OTP verification is required.
Step 4: Complete Registration
Enter the required details and submit the registration.
After successful registration, the system provides the username, which can also be communicated through SMS.

Step 9: State Pharmacy Council Verification
The State Pharmacy Council reviews the submitted information.
After approval, the HPR profile/card is generated as per the system process.
📄 Documents / Information to Keep Ready
Pharmacists should keep the following information/documents ready, wherever applicable:

• State Pharmacy Council Registration Number
• Pharmacist Registration Certificate
• D.Pharm/B.Pharm/Pharm.D qualification details
• Educational documents
• Current employment/work details
• Required supporting documents
• Mobile number and email ID
The exact documents requested may depend on the profile and portal requirements.
🔐 What Is the Role of Aadhaar?
Aadhaar is used for identity verification in the registration process.
The PCI user manual states that when required, pharmacists are redirected for Aadhaar verification and must use an Aadhaar-registered mobile number for OTP authentication.
Therefore, pharmacists should ensure that their Aadhaar-linked mobile number is active before starting the process.
🪪 What Is HPR Card?
The HPR Card is the digital professional identity generated after the pharmacist's HPR profile is successfully processed and approved.
The submitted profile is scrutinized by the concerned State Pharmacy Council.
After approval, the HPR card/profile can be generated through the system.
⚠️ What Happens If You Do Not Complete the Process?
PCI has instructed existing DIGI-PHARMed users to complete and validate their HPR profile within the prescribed 15-day period.
The circular indicates that failure to complete the required process within the stipulated period can lead to deactivation of the profile.
Therefore, eligible pharmacists should complete the process before the deadline.
❗ Important Difference: HPR Registration vs State Pharmacy Registration
Many pharmacists may confuse these two processes.
State Pharmacy Council Registration
This is the statutory pharmacist registration that allows a qualified person to be registered as a pharmacist.
It is handled by the respective State Pharmacy Council.
HPR Registration
HPR is the new digital integration of pharmacist information with the Health Professional Registry under ABDM/NHA.
It does not replace the State Pharmacy Council registration.
A pharmacist should maintain a valid State Pharmacy Council registration and also complete the applicable HPR/DIGI-PHARMed process.
